Launch and Recovery of Zhuque-3 Flight 2
LandSpace launched a Zhuque-3 from Jiuquan in Gansu at 2335 UTC, or 0735 Wednesday morning local time (CST). This was the second test flight of the company's Zhuque-3 rocket, which successfully made it to orbit for the second time and delivered Honghu-03, a prototype internet satellite for LandSpace's subsidiary Hongqing Technology. The first stage made a successful soft landing downrange in Minqin County, making LandSpace the second Chinese organisation to successfully recover an orbital first stage booster after CALT's successful Long March 10B recovery last month, and the third private company in the world to do so after SpaceX and Blue Origin. The next milestone will be reusing one of these recovered boosters, which neither CALT nor LandSpace have yet achieved. This was LandSpace's second recovery attempt, after their first attempt crash-landed back in 2025. [Source: LandSpace]
US Spacewalk 97
American astronaut Anil Menon and French astronaut Sophie Adenot performed a spacewalk today from the International Space Station, supported from inside the station by fellow astronauts Jessica Meir and Jack Hathaway, and supported from the ground by Steven Zentner and Anne McClain. The spacewalk began at 1229 UTC and concluded at 1852 UTC, lasting 6 hours 23 minutes. The spacewalkers removed a failed space-to-ground antenna, which took longer than expected, meaning the installation of the replacement antenna was deferred to a later spacewalk. This was Anil Menon's 2nd spacewalk, bringing him up to 12 hours 50 minutes of EVA time, and it was Sophie Adenot's 1st spacewalk. It was the 2nd spacewalk of Expedition 75 and overall the 282nd spacewalk from the International Space Station. [Source: NASA]
